  1. no with the acoustic- generally the stuff here with rushing it out without labels and also just general QC issues in the last few years outta bozeman. i would hope cesar and agnesi are ensuring the murphy lab quality is pretty airtight as they tout it as a return to form for the brand
  2. with the new electrics rolling out, i can't help but think the acoustic would be my top choice in a noel signature guitar. anyone have a long term review of theirs? I've heard wishy-washy things about the quality overall.

  4. i wish they'd sprung for this to be $1499 or $1299 and made it in terada, especially since the original is a MIJ. this just seems like a rebranding of the dot pro/riv that's around $700 without a noel signature. Overall im glad this exists but would prob hold off on getting one brand new.
  5. that was my first acoustic and i really clicked with it. great guitar for short money
  6. looks like the post came down i cant find it anymore, but the resale market is lighting up same as the j200 šŸ™„
  7. Plenty of MIUSA clothing out there, you just have to drop the mindset that a pair of jeans (i imagine you call them dungarees) should cost $50. You pay a lot for MIUSA stuff but the folks that make them have insurance and are paid alright. Im a big fan of any cone mills stuff
  8. also cruel irony Noel's union jack and knebworth sheraton were MIUSA John Lee Hookers. After about Be Here Now he started on Gibson and never went back. Now he's all about Martins and Nash jazzmasters of all things.
  9. with runs this small i imagine that there are enough music store employees to fill in the gaps between hedge fund investors. either way, the general public's chances are slim. it's naive to think someone's going to put a $10k guitar into the hands of a young upstart in the hopes that he'll bring back the guitar music of his idol Noel Thomas David Gallagher. Supernovas can be had for under $1500. we'll see if they do a reissue of the riviera. I had an '82 for a little while (the wine burst that Bonehead plays) and it was alright. Played like any $600 matsumoku sheraton and I sold it to another oasis guy. I've got a '97 sheraton I bought because it looked like Noel's at Knebworth that's miles above the 80s riviera, in my value-less opinion.
  10. they did that and noel wasn't happy with the supernova. never went back to epiphones, and there's way more money in gibsons than a wide-scale epi release.
  11. hey he's just looking to date someone from texas, not marry her!
  12. hi! photo is a little fuzzy, if you can get a clearer photo of the sticker inside and some other angles, it'll be easier to tell. the pickguard has definitely been replaced. the sticker inside the sound hole should be light blue. from what i can see it looks consistent to early 60s with the belly up bridge, ceramic saddle, button tuners and slim headstock. also as someone with the same one on my '68 J45, that top crack looks very familiar as well!
  13. i got a similar L48 with no headstock break for $220 about ten years ago. i'd say in that territory is more than fair
  14. nice! ive got a 40s one with the carved top- they're a great intro to the archtop world, but dynamic enough to fit into americana, blues etc. mine just sounds WOODY and the smell when you open the case šŸ„°
  15. great find! does it have a flat back or arched? hard to tell with the light in one photo and looks flat on the last one.
  16. king of the 20-year old under-informed hot take strikes again
  17. can't win em all- the more complicated the product, the more likely it is to have some ethical dilemma, for sure. my belt made on cape cod of 100% US sourced materials is a little more straightforward than a macbook. for what it's worth my tv is, according to the internet, korean, and my cars from sweden šŸ™‚
  18. it's hard if you struggle to afford certain products, or struggle to justify the spend on something MIUSA vs. made overseas. My litmus test has always been whether folks are willing to pay $200 for a pair of jeans. I have two pairs of Raleigh Denim, made the old fashioned way, that I've worn daily for about ten years. When they get holes, I take them to a tailor to patch up. I've got chippewa boots made in the us, and a great pair of boots from Rancourt that were made in maine. When the former wore out, they went to the cobbler to be resoled. If I can find a MIUSA option, ill pay a bit more for it. I dont blame people for thinking it's crazy when jeans cost $14 at old navy, but those are usually the same people that complain and vote for certain politicians because of a grievance that their jobs were off-shored and their towns went belly up. everyone's in a different place and have their reasons, im certainly not going to tell people what they should do with their money, but it's not that difficult to find a MIUSA option for some things and in my experience the quality/QC is always better than that same product produced overseas specifically MIC.
  19. This is a hard question to answer. It sounds to me that he is trading you the OJ for the guitar, and then charging you $1000 for the repair work. Is he painting the neck for you as well? If these are impossible to find in your area, I bet the OJ is also really hard to find. I would not commit to buying anything until the work is done and you can play it. If when you play it and it is fixed you think it is worth it, pay him what he wants and you will be happy. But if the repair is not as good as he says it will be, maybe you can negotiate to just trade the guitars and save the cash. If he does a great job but not as good as you want, maybe someone else will buy it for more money
  20. i had an eye on one for a reallly long time (prior to the reissue) mostly for the look (great aesthetic and one of noel gallagher's guitars) but then i had the chance to play one at matt umanov in new york and i just didnt vibe with the long scale. I imagine it will appreciate in value better than run of the mill gibson lineup stuff, and in the meantime i still love the look of it. In the epi channels you said you sent back one of the overseas frontiers due to build quality, but do you think you'll be able to honestly compare the MIUSA to the masterbilt from a tone perspective? I'd be interested in hearing a comparison as we just finished fighting about the IBG J200 vs. J200 vs. EJ-200
  21. Dang i wish GF had those back when i bought mine- i scoured for a long time to find something that fit my L48, eventually landing on archtop.com's 16" case https://www.archtop.com/ac_access.html It seems like it has very similar specs to the GF one linked above- my issue was the top closing without putting pressure on the bridge- be sure to check that and good luck!
  22. jibberish i dont know what your endgame is here- are you trying to find out the value of one or are you considering buying one that you think is overpriced? the IBG ones seem to be quality guitars, a few steps above the standard ej-200, and neither of them seem to come close to a j200. That said both Noel Gallagher and Richard Ashcroft have made a name for themselves with the epiphone version, so anything's possible i guess!
  23. agreed and his youtube videos are great! he's a great personality and i could listen to him read the phone book!
