  1. I don't know if I have ever thought "this is the right" guitar when I hate the pickups in it. Just one opinion, though ...
  2. I would recommend that you just keep it -- Either that, or just be willing to accept a very low amount because you don't want to see it around any longer. This guitar is going to be a hard sell even at a very low price.
  3. I am sure this will go over like a fart in church, but here goes ... In contrast, Ireland gave us Thin Lizzy, Rory Gallagher, and Irish whiskey. Scotland's Bay City Rollers, Average White Band, and Nazareth seem a lot lighter by comparison. I went through a Scotch phase ... these days, though, I much prefer American whiskey (and American beer for that matter). And as the RnRHoF goes, Thin Lizzy is at least an order of magnitude more deserving than Nazareth. Don't get me wrong -- I like Scotch whiskey and Nazareth ('No Mean City' was one of my favorite albums back in the day). Also, Scotland has a reputation of being extremely friendly and one of the most beautiful places on earth. I am not a hater ... really.
  4. Some of those guitars are estimated low. Lot 107 ... a 2005 USA Strat owned by David Gilmour? I am guessing they "may" fetch more than just $1000 for it ... going way out on a limb here with that prediction, you understand ...
  5. Agreed -- This guitar is very close in concept to the original 2009-2011 "Trad Pro" sold through Guitar Center, which -- to me -- was (at the time) the poor man's Les Paul Standard (its name back then was the 'Les Paul Standard Traditional Pro').
  6. I vote for the LP Standard 50s option ... that was one of the choices, right?

You are all wrong ... This is for Doris Day who died just a couple of days ago. The lady was an icon, and a very talented one at that. RIP...
  8. Oh ... this thread is about guitars ...
  9. Good purchase -- even comes with a HSC. Post some pics and let us know how you like it. Did you get the red or the burst?
  10. This is a great relatively recent horror movie if you have not seen it ...
  11. I am not a huge REM fan, but I have my own 17-tracks of what I think are their best songs in my iTunes library, and that is all I listen to when it comes to them. "Man On The Moon" and "The Great Beyond" are amazing songs. I am totally okay with them being the RRHOF ... they were a huge band back in the day.
  12. Agreed -- Is it definitely a a true scratch? Nothing that can be wiped off with a damp rag, or such?
  13. Or you could buy a brand new Les Paul Studio Deluxe IV Iced Tea from the Clearance section in Guitar Center for only $1449. The clearance deals are crazy good, but won't last long.
  14. I like where they are going personally. SG Standards for $1500, plain-top LP Classics for $2000, LP Standards for $2500, and the LP Modern for $2800. The SG Junior and SG Standard are both $1500 which does make a lot of sense ... but they will figure it out.
  15. It is a winner for me -- I really like the guard too. Well done.
  16. There is the Epiphone Ace model for $799 ...
  17. My '79 is SUPER remarkable -- awesome guitar. I would put it up to take the Pepsi Challenge against any SG ... Just saying.
  18. They have been around a long time, very reputable. They have quality stuff at cheap prices.
  19. Yes -- Michael Jackson was good friends with Paul McCartney who had told MJ about his plans to buy the Beatles library as it was coming up in an auction. However, MJ used this inside knowledge of Paul's auction plans to instead buy it for himself to beat out McCartney. From I understand, Paul was (rightfully so) a little pissed off, and that was the end of their friendship. I believe Paul owns it now, though.
  20. Yes, the "Trad Pro" is a Guitar Center-only product (I think it was also offered through MF, but I am not sure of that). The original Trad Pro had the official name "Les Paul Standard Traditional Pro" and was also unofficially referred to by Guitar Center as the "Les Paul Traditional Pro Exclusive". It was a plain-top model with slim neck and no active electronics. This original offering was available as a 2009-2011 model (I have a 2010). The model was unchanged throughout that period except that very early on, it came with a TR cover that said "Classic", but was very soon replaced with a blank TR cover. This initial model came in four finishes with the Gold Top being made in small quantities, with a Wine Red being added in 2010. Then in 2012 (and subsequent years), Guitar Center replaced that initial offering with the "Trad Pro II" with the word "Standard" officially removed from the model name. Then in subsequent years added the "Trad Pro III" and "Trad Pro IV" were added, such that in 2018, all three models were available. The Trad Pro II/III/IV all had active electronics. As for how the the Trad Pro II/III/IV models varied over the years, I am not sure. It appears that the Trad Pro line has been removed with now only the "Trad Pro IV" being available (as of last week, anyway) from Guitar Center, and that was as a clearance model. That is to the best of my knowledge...
  21. To be clear, I have NO problem AT ALL with artists making money. The music industry is super rough and is slanted against the artist. And now, artists can barely even sell their music because most people are acquiring it free or nearly free from cut-rate sources instead of paying $1/song from Apple or Amazon. Have at it! And as for the John Lennon thing, everything regarding him is legally controlled and sold. I have no problem with that either. I would just hope that the estates of dead artists only get involved with "tasteful" advertising. They are allowed to make money too. This included many artists such as Johnny Cash, Prince, et al, et al.
  22. But back to the Bob Dylan thing, he has done commercials with him in it for Pepsi , IBM, Chrysler, and others ...
  23. And -- probably -- to also build up some inventory of the new line.
