Stumbled upon an answer thanks to Vintage Guitar and Bass. Pointed me to a Les Paul schematic and a note written in that schematic that #70-028 is a Gibson part # and that it is a 300K pot. Other reference links says it is a linear taper but I have not verified this yet...

Thanks. I already knew the CTS pot code. It's the 70-028 code I am looking to learn about.

I have a 1973 LPC which I bought new in early 1974. All original parts, wiring, pots, etc. The pot code is 1377348. The pots also have an additional stamped code - 70-028. Anybody have a clue what this code means? Contacted CTS but no reply yet. Thanks.
