  1. That's funny. I'll have to watch for George the next time I watch The Thing. "Say the magic word, and the duck comes down and gives you a hundred dollars." (It was a hundred, wasn't it?)
  2. ALL great westerns. "Unforgiven" is my favorite of the later westerns.
  3. I'm at an age that when someone asks me how I'm doing, I tell them, "Well, I'm not buying any green bananas."
  4. I've got it on DVD, and I watch it at least once a year and whenever it comes on TCM. Watch that clip that jaxson50 posted and watch the Soviet ambassador.
  5. I saw a list not long ago of someone's opinion of the greatest westerns ever made. I think "Shane" was number 2 on the list behind John Wayne's "Stagecoach".
  6. And I, too, am also a fan of the old Universal Studio monster movies. I've got most of them on DVD. One of my favorites out of the Universal bunch is "Werewolf of London" starring Warner Oland (aka Charlie Chan in another series of movies from the '30s).
  7. We all know who the Thing was in the original movie, don't we? James Arness, aka Marshall Matt Dillon.
  8. I have not seen the "Wicker Man" remake with Cage. I have not read any favorable reviews, but the original film is great. And, yes, both "...Bodysnatchers" movies are good. I saw the original when I was a kid on the Friday night TV creature feature. I checked under my bed every night for a week or so after that.
  9. This is one of my very favorite movies, and this is my favorite scene. For of any that have never seen this movie, it a must-see. AND, at least watch this clip, but keep your eye NOT on Peter Sellers as Strangelove, but rather on the Soviet ambassador just to Sellers' right. He starts to crack up about 2/3ds of the way through this clip when Strangelove is fighting with his right arm. Apparently it was decided to go ahead and use this take, because nobody would be watching anyone in the background; everyone would be watching Sellers. I had seen this movie probably a half dozen times before someone told me to watch the Soviet guy.
  10. Oh, yeah! "The Wicker Man" is another one I don't see often enough on TV. I'm talking the old one from the '70s with Christopher Lee, not the newer one with Nick Cage.
  11. I love "The Big Lebowski", but to re-broadcast that a LOT of F-bombs would have to be bleeped. Of the stuff much older, I don't see "The Third Man" often on TV. It's one of my top 3 or 4 favorites.
  12. That IS good news, and I hope that it continues to get better.
  13. The car is better looking than the guitar.
  14. How about Leon Russell and the New Grass Revival doing Jumpin' Jack Flash?
  15. I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.
  16. Well, I'm glad y'all had a good time, and I'm glad the crowd had a good time, but too bad the bar didn't treat you fairly.
  17. Just as we all thought.
  18. For me, academically speaking, besides my apparently reaching my baseball peak in high school, college baseball was taking up too much of my time, and my grades started to suffer. I made the first cut on the baseball team, but I was going to be riding the pine behind a better first baseman. I decided to concentrate on my studies. Even if I had stayed with baseball in college, I certainly wasn't going to go beyond that. For one thing, I was too slow a runner. My high school coach once told me, "Natural [not my real name], you run too long in the same place."
