I got to see him at the King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, AR, in '90. He didn't seem too gruff on the stage that year, but I heard from friends who went to the same festival the next couple of years that he had become increasingly cranky. I heard he had wanted to retire but had to keep performing for financial reasons. Anyway, he was great to see live. I've got a lot of B.B. King on CD, but I listen to my Albert King stuff more often. He was a good one.

The Blues Jr. is a great amp.

Happy Birthday, Bud. And for all you guys approaching retirement, let me say this: The pay's not so good, but the hours are GREAT!
