  1. Hello all, first time posting here. I've been looking every now and then for a Nick Valensi Riviera, huge Strokes fan, and I found this one on Reverb but there's a few things about it that are throwing me off. The chrome parts look quite rough, especially the tailpiece, and to me the tuners don't look to be in the right place on the headstock, 10th pic if you zoom in you can see they're not exactly straight. I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea of the actual build quality of these or maybe it's just my eyes seeing these dodgy bits. I asked for another picture of the serial number and it is 0909210365 which indicates it was made in the Unsung factory in Korea but it's not hard to fake that. Everyone knows about faking Les Pauls, American strats and other more popular guitars but I don't know if it's been known for this model to be faked? Any input would be appreciated. The link to it is here https://reverb.com/item/35826855-epiphone-nick-valensi-signature-riviera-natural?bk=eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJqdGkiOiJiNmNlMDdhNy1iMjA2LTQ5NjAtYTYwMy05Njg4MTE2YmRkMzAiLCJpYXQiOjE2MDE5MDUyMjUsInVzZXJfaWQiOiIiLCJzZXNzaW9uX2lkIjoiIiwiY29va2llX2lkIjoiZjI5N2ZiZTEtZDNiMS00Y2ExLTg2Y2ItMjVmMzRkZTE2YTA3IiwicHJvZHVjdF9pZCI6IjM1ODI2ODU1Iiwic291cmNlIjoiTk9ORSJ9.hHJETtceo2XBbuo-ftQ8mMMxg1b9a1pE4ixgNZ5OPB4 EDIT: Have noticed on closer inspection that the truss rod cover is also suspicious.
  2. Not sure if this will be well received or looked down upon but... Last year I bought a Riviera p93 (made in 2009) with a broken neck, for really cheap. The neck is fixed, no problem there - but the dogear pickups didn't sound great to me and most importantly I kept hitting the middle pickup with my pick constantly! I didn't feel I could resell the guitar due to the formerly broken neck, but couldn't really use it as-is either so it sat in the closet all year. Finally I removed the pickups and wiring harness, redid the switching/wiring and custom made a plate from pick-guard material to mount two new filter-tron style pickups to. This plate served the dual purpose of letting me mount different pickup types while also covering up the gaps on the sides from the extra long dogear pickups, and covering the gaping hole left by the now absent middle pickup. The guitar now sounds great, feels great and I can play it! I'm really happy with the way it looks sounds and plays now.
  3. I’ve been looking to buy a Nick Valensi Elitist Epiphone Riviera for a while now to no avail. If anyone has one and is willing to part with it I would be very interested in purchasing it! There was a sunburst model and a maple model I would be interested in purchasing either. Thanks!
  4. Hello all, I've got a Epi Riviera P-93, and I'm wondering what the default activations are through the pickup selector switch. My assumption is as follows: UP: neck MIDDLE: middle and bridge DOWN: bridge That said, I've seen other people online articulate this differently (for example the middle position activates all three pickups). Would someone be able to clarify the definitive default configuration? Thank you!
  5. Hi all, I have a 2nd hand Riviera P93 and it's come to my attention (via my guitar instructor who has made some adjustments to it -- the previous owner liked his action high and his string gauge heavy) that the bridge pickup is a little high -- as in the spacer connecting the pickup to the guitar top is too thick. Can anyone who has a P93 tell me if this looks odd? One of the reasons for the concern is that the (low) E-string is buzzing on the pickup and the pickup screw can't be adjusted any lower. I'm a newb, so I don't mind hand-holding in order to understand what's going on.
  6. Hi all, I have a Riviera that I bought used. It did not come with a pickguard and I'm interested in maybe one day getting one. Thing is, I don't see this item listed on the Epiphone/Gibson site (unless I'm looking in the wrong place). Are these available retail or are they only available used on reseller sites?
  7. Hey folks! Shot another Epiphone shootout - this is a standard Casino back to back with a Riviera Custom p93. Enjoy! Jack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zz23QMJu1TY
