  1. Hi: I'm contemplating pulling the trigger on a lefty 60s Gibson Les Paul Standard. Problem is, I have a concern about the serial number: 217800012. See attached image. My understanding - which I admit is limited - is that the first two numbers equal the year. But 2021? That hasn't begun yet. Any chance someone could shed light on it? I want to make sure I'm not getting a knockoff and am trying to be as careful as possible. Thanks! Randwulf83
  2. Hey all, I'm trying to get an idea of what this guitar is and what the value may be. I've never seen an SG with custom inlay or Les Paul tags on it. Can anyone help identify it by the serial number or tell me the value of it? I'm just not sure what I have. Thanks!
  3. Hey, I found a seller of a 1974 Twentieth Anniversary Les Paul custom. He told me it was the second off the production line based on the serial number which is 3705072. There are some images attached. I've never heard of Gibson doing a 2nd off the production line serial numbers and every online decoder has been unable to verify if this thing is real. Just want to make sure what I'm buying is a real Gibson. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  4. Hi folks - probably an easy one but it's driving me a bit batty. New-to-me Studio model. Pretty sure it's a 2012, but ... SN is 122790260 So it's a 9 digit number. According to the Gibson site, "Gibson USA goes to a 9 digit serial number in early July 2005" with the first 8 digit pattern not changing from the previous version (YDDDYRRR), so this instrument would have been made on the 227 day of 2019. BUT the Gibson site also says, "USA 2014 to present: The pattern is as follows: YYRRRRRRR, which would give the instrument a 2012 manufacture year, which is what I'm expecting. But that doesn't make sense. If it was made in 2012, it should have the 2005 numbering scheme, which puts it back to a 2019. Am I missing something obvious here? Thanks in advance for help.
  5. I have seen a "custom LP" for sale with the serial MS 0808 I'm guessing nthis is a fake? If not would be interested as it's a good price
  6. I want to buy a used Firebird Zero. But I noticed it has a numbered sticker with the letters DAR at the end (0247833 DAR). Any particular meaning? The owner says he bought it brand new and it has one imperfection ad the bass upper bout. Maybe related to the sticker? I could not upload a pic due to size restrictions. But here is a link https://photos.app.goo.gl/Ja1uFaSJVLk1f2oi6
  7. It belongs to an Epiphone Black Beauty, I've been checking other Epiphones BB on the internet and all of them start with 2 letters in the beginning of the serial number instead of a serial number full of numbers. 10121515715 According to the pages that i've used to try to indentify the serial number they say that it's from China and was made in 2010.
  8. I need some help finding info on my epiphone les paul jr guitar. The serial number is MC22041083 and reading info online would mean made in muse china April of 2022 or 1922. Can anyone help me find the real build date? The serial number is located on the neck plate by the way.

  10. Trying to find what year this old Gibson acoustic is. It was my fathers. I believe it's either 1930's or 40's. Any suggestions? Sunburst, serial number 331. Possibly a J45?
  11. Hello, I am trying to figure out when this SG was produced, the SN is 730587, can anybody help me out with this?
  12. Hi, I wanna know the production date of my SG. I know that it's made in Korea, but have no idea of the year - serial decoder say it's august 1986, 1996 or 2006. It has "vintage mint" tuners and a Gibson logo on the truss rod plate. Btw. original screws on pickguard, frames etc. was black, but I changed it to chrome because of rust. Serial: I6080778
  13. Hello Everyone, I have a L-6S that was passed down to me from my grandfather. After several years of playing it I would like to restore and replace some of the parts. Mostly replace the pickups, pots, and wiring. Everything on this is still the original equipment and other than what I just mentioned all is in great shape. I'm wanting more specifics on this brand if possible. I'm unsure of the exact year but I have the serial number. Also, one if the pickups has November 197X on it. So I'm almost there! Any suggestions on replacement parts would also help me out. I've attached some pictures as well, however having to resize them didn't improve the clarity. Thank you all.
Allego qualche foto.
  15. I’ve got a Gibson Les paul custom with a 6 digit serial number of 140533 stamped on back of headstock with “made in USA” below. Best guess is it’s between ‘70 and ‘72. Anyone have any better info? Most of the sites I’ve checked aren’t very clear.
