So I picked up an 1982 SG Special at an estate sale for $160. It needs work but the serial number and headstock have me puzzled. The serial comes up as Gibson. However, there is a “loop” showing beside the “b “ in Gibson. It looks like the Epi logo was covered up. Anyone hear of this before. I have tried uploading a photo but it tells me the photo is to large. any help is appreciated

Hello everyone, I was wondering if you could help me identify a Gibson SG that I found for sale that I'm interested in but need some clarification from you the experts. It’s a 2014 SG Special but has some things that seem off to me. As I understand it, the Special that year came with creme poker chip, creme pickup rings, speed knobs and no pickguard however this one seems to be fitted with the all those items from the standard model. The seller claims that he bought it new as is at that time but hasn't produced an invoice to confirm. Do you know if this model was sold this way that year? (maybe a special edition?). Thanks!

I'm planning on getting my first SG, and I found these 2 guitars online that fit my price range, but I'm just not sure about the legitimacy or problems. I'm completely new to SGs and have little to no knowledge about them, and I would like to know if these 2 guitars are legitimate or fake, if they have any problems that I should be aware of, or if they're worth the price at which the sellers are selling them for. I'm especially skeptical about the second guitar (the one on ebay) as it doesn't have the normal covered pickups the regular SG standards have (the sellers they got replaced), has a repaired crack on the neck and also the serial engraving just looks a bit sketchy. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
