Hey guys. Some of you may know that I own a 2012 Gibson J-50 Modern Classic acoustic electric. They sell it at Fuller's as well as Sweetwater. Their advertised price new is $2,450 ish, although I bought mine for a little less. It has Baggs pup with a sound hole volume control. It has areal nice hard case. Mine is mint, save for a few pickguard scratches which should buff out. What' do you think a selling price for mine would be if I offered it for sale?

Probably around 1500 I would think.

This might be a little low: 50% of list for a J-45 would be around 1550 and J-50s are just a little more expensive. I'd have said something in the $1600 to $1700 range, but I haven't been tracking similar sales lately so I could be over optimistic. One potential negative of that price is that you'd be in pretty direct competition with a brand-new J-35 which sells for $1700 or less. Used prices in that range may be in freefall right nnow because of that model.

Thanks guys. That J35 is a nice model. I think the differences are tuners, pickguard, bridge, x bracing vs advanced bracing, and neck shape.

Bob I agree I'm just going off what I've seen. A used j45 is about 1600-1650 on eBay. Sal I've had a couple guitars for sale on the agf for a bit now. Seems like tire kickers.

Knowone is buying or very few.

case in point - cameleye has a great sounding and looking 2010 J-45 "NOS"(I played it this week) for 1500 shipped that inexplicably isn't moving. Basically a new guitar.

good time to buy - selling, not so much...

I've sold 5 guitars and a ukulele in the past two months. Made a profit on all but one that I broke even on.
