Goetta for supper

Hall

Recommended Posts

Anybody outside of the Northen Kentucky area familiar with the old world food product called, Goetta? I just scored some home-made from a very sweet elderly neighbor who is the last person I know in these parts who still makes her own family recipe. Umm, a good supper this evening![tongue]

When I travelled around the US last year I had some when I visited cincinnati. From what I can remember it was like a sausage. I was told it was was a german-american sausage, but I've visited my german relatives many times and never seen it (maybe I was in the wrong parts)

Equal parts ground pork and beef, steel cut oats as a filler, water as a binder, pepper salt, fine chopped onions, cut into patties and fry in oil till crispy around the edges, serve with eggs and spuds, and tall white biscuits .
