Greg Jacob
Koa is a much warmer wood. I imagine it would sound similar to an all mahogany Les Paul Guitar Woods Link
btoth76
Koa is a much warmer wood. I imagine it would sound similar to an all mahogany Les Paul ... Hello! If it is true... Check out how late 50s Les Paul Customs did sound. They were all-mahogany. Cheers... Bence
Twang Gang
Not sure how much effect a Koa cap will have on a mahogany body - but it makes quite a difference on an acoustic. The Maple is brighter with more high end tone, less mid and bass tone. Also Koa tone changes quite a bit as it opens up. So agree it may sound more like an all mahogany, and certainly different than maple - but wouldn't be as pronounced with a solid body guitar. LPs are so meaty with a maple top, take away some of the brightness of the maple cap not sure what it will sound like - only playing it will answer the question. UCSF2012
I just bought a KOA top 2013 LP. I just added a review on the GC site.
NorthGuitar
I did this song on my Koa top les paul(2013) I really Love how it sounds the more I play it(like they said wood is opening up on it) it's a normal choice for me when I want to rock especially in mid position with both tone knobs set to the phase reversal(forgot name)
