PaulVC26 Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Say I was to build a guitar, and I wanted either a Les Paul or SG style body, would I be able to put 2 humbuckers and 2 single coils onto 1 guitar and would it work?

Yeah, you got the room, after all Lp's and Sg's have been made with 3 humbuckers with room to spare. If you got the skills, have a go. I'd like to see such a beast! Wiring possibilities would be interesting too. Would you go for standard bridge and neck h'bucker routs with the singles in the middle, or have you other ideas?
charlie brown Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 You could even mix them up, as well! That can give you some very interesting tonal options/possibilities. Good Luck! CB

Yeah, well either that or have the two humbuckers on the neck side and the singles on the bridge ;)
PaulVC26 Posted April 5, 2013 Author Posted April 5, 2013 How about just using coil taps? I want that bit more uniqueness, looks wise more so ;)
Greg Jacob Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I want that bit more uniqueness, looks wise more so ;) You could go with 6 single coils, each with a 3-way mini switch (on normal - off - on reverse phase). That would be wild.
pippy Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Back in the early '70s Steve Howe had an early LP Custom adapted to take four PAFs so two HBs and two SCs should be a cinch. P.

Rabs Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Well thats unique and super cool ;) thanks for showing That's Nigel Tufnels guitar from Spinal Tap.. (a joke band if you've not seen the movie (which I suggest anyone should :)) He also has a Marshall amp that goes up to 11 :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nowauSf_ogI
turtle Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 If you built it( and correct me if I'm an idiot) would it make more sense to make it 25 1/2 scale for that extra room? I'd do bridge -bucker then in order-single bucker single. The middle bucker sound is really cool as I've heard some artists using a bucker in the middle on a strat and it was MUy bueno. SG shaped! Also I'm on an SG kick as I almost traded my goldtop r8 for a SG custom triple bucker. That guitar was amazing!!! Just couldn't get rid of the goldtop.
