newlife15 Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Good day all, I recently had installed a Seth lover pickup in the bridge of my Epi Joe Pass and while I was at it I had CTS pots installed. I now have the volume knob and the tone knob for each pickup together. What I mean is that I changed how it is traditionally set up. I have volume and tone up for the neck and same for bridge. But I notice that when I raise the volume above two a hum begins to build up and raising the volume increases the hum until I get to nine then the hum disappears. This happens for both pickups. Ay thoughts? Thanks Roy
Greybeard Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I had a similar issue on an SG that I bought new. When I opened it up, I saw that the factory had routed a shielded output wire to the jack right over the top of the contacts on the pots. I'd suggest looking at how the wiring is routed inside the guitar and try to keep the shielded wires away from the contacts. That's the only help that I can offer on this one. Good luck.
Aoresteen Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 As Greybeard indicates you have a short to ground somewhere. Take it back to who ever did the work and have him set it right.
