Pickup Body Components .. From Where and What?

Does anybody know specifically, what materials the humbucker baseplates and covers are made from? Is it American steel or off-shore mass produced or what?? I've spent literally over $2000 on Gibson pickups in the last 14 - 15 years - experimenting with various combinations etc ... therefore , I feel I deserve an accurate answer from someone TRULY in the know. I'm not asking for ancient Gibson secrets ... just the makeup of these 2 components. Are they the same baseplates and covers as the 50s and 60s PAFs? If so, then I already know. Somehow, I don't think that they would be the same as that era. Who knows?

 

 

Also, can anyone recommend the best and most informative book on specifically Gibson guitar pickups?

There have been lots of Gibson pickups over the years. Lot's of humbuckers. None of them have has steel base plates of covers. Steel make for crap covers and base plates.
