I have played one at a local shop and they have all the magic of the golden era B45 12 strings from 1963-64 with the advantage of a more playable modern neck...

the less aggressive bracing, mellow tone and short scale of the Hummingbird makes for a wonderful 12 string.

The problem with the B45-12 is there is they have a really short "golden age" as late in 1964 or 1965 Gibson really beefed up the bracing. It helped do away with the imploding tops but just killed the sound. So any 12 string not suffering from the overbraced syndrome would be welcome if you were in a 12 string frame of mind.

Well over priced. Here is music Zoo price.

Probably the MZ price is also the MAP price, so expect some discount

The 'Bird configuration would make a great 12-string. Closest thing to a B-45-12 you could get, but with the advantages of rational modern construction (I hope). I've always had a soft spot for 12-strings--probably because of Huddie Ledbetter, Pete Seeger, and many others. Not to mention Jim McGuinn, of course.

I've never owned an acoustic 12, but a friend in college had a D-12-18 that I loved to play. Now all I've got is an ES 335-12 that I rarely get around to playing, but it sure is a lot of fun when I do. You forget how much noise you can make with one of these things. They're great in open tuning: you can do no wrong, and you produce a great wall of sound.
