Twang Gang Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Just bought a Classic Custom back in December. Had the first gig with it Friday night and luckily I brought another guitar along. It performed fine, loved the tone action etc, but I'm too old. It weighed in at almost 10 pounds and after the first set I could tell there was no way I could play it for two more sets. Soooooo - traded it back to the shop where I bought it and got a Custom Lite today. Different tone (but not too different) as it has 490 pups instead of classic 57s, and the mahogany being thinner gives it a little less meaty tone - still great sustain and action though and only weighs about 6 pounds. The body is so thin and light, it's actually a little top heavy with the Grovers and beefy neck. But I can do a four set gig with this one. Can't seem to post a photo, but if you want to see one, just go to the products section of this site, Les Pauls, and go all the way to the end of page 12 - last axe shown. Nice look, ebony with gold hardware. Sacrificed the second tone knob for a coil split switch which I probably won't use too often as the full humbucker sound is more what I'm after if I'm playing a LP. Just built 1/28/13, and shipped to store after 2/20 so wasn't hanging in the shop too long for all the teeny-boppers to bang on. Set up was good except neck pup way too high (at least a 16th off), but a few turn of a phillips head and she's good to go. Gotto go - amp has been on standy too long. [flapper]
