RS1976 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 has anyone else seen a NL reissue with these tuners? the buttons themselves look right, but I thought they were open back. The SN checks out as a Nick Lucas Reissue from Montana 2001, and even Gibson verified it. the tuners looks original... like no 'ghost outline' in the lacquer where tuning pegs might have been modified or switched out . i've heard sometimes factory workers would use whatever was around to finish an instrument. but you know how that is.. no matter what. this is one incredible guitar.
ponty Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Yes, This photo shows a 1999 NL with the same tuners. The rest of the guitar can be seen on, http://www.vintage-guitars.se/1999_Gibson_Nick_Lucas_Reissue_93509010.htm

I have a vague recollection, that when I was in NYC around 2003 Sam Ash had about 4 of these guitars in stock. I tried them all and I am sure I noted then that the tuners on those guitars were not all the same.
RS1976 Posted April 11, 2013 Author Posted April 11, 2013 Is Gibson done making the Nick Lucas? And I wonder why some were custom shop and some were not. Interesting. The guitar is very loud!
