Hello fellow forumites, this is my first post so sorry if its a little sketchy.

Anyways i just bought a brand new Gibson Les Paul Studio Deluxe from guitar center, took it to my tech for a setup, and found that it is MISSING A TRUSS ROD CAP (at least i think thats what its called). Im not talking about the truss rod COVER, you know the little piece of plastic that goes over the cavity. Im talking about the piece that you turn and use to adjust the neck relief....its just not there. I dont think this is a common problem.

Has anyone else had this problem before? Does anyone have any recommendations or advice?

Never heard of that before - but not a big deal. Just contact dealer or Gibson direct and get a nut to go on the end of it and you should be good to go.

Any conection to Ripon Wi. in your screen name?

Thanks for the reply Mr. Twang. And nope its the other Ripon. I live in Ripon, California.

The original Ripon is in England, but since you mentioned Guitar Center I guessed that wasn't the one [sneaky]

I didn't know there was a ripon in england :P. Makes sense i guess. And yeah i think this is the third time I've bought a defective product from them. I know its the manufacturers fault and not guitar centers, but for some reason the only time my product has issues i when i get it from there. Or maybe its just coincidence, who knows.

Hello Ripon556! Welcome to the Forums!

Even tough, it's a very disturbing thing to buy a guitar of an exclusive brand and facing such a pity, I have to agree with Twang Gang: it's not a big deal. Annoying, for sure!

My 50's Tribute came with the truss rod nut filed flat. That's what they did to make the cover fit on the headstock...Shame, but technically it's not a problem.

Cheers... Bence

Having some experience with GC they probably needed a truss rod nut for something else so just took yours off with the "let the next guy worry about it" attitude. It seems to be overall the way they run their business. It's nice to go in and have a large selection and be able to play and compare guitars but I do all I can not to purchase from them. Seriously doubt Gibson would let one go out of the factory without that critical piece.

More likely it's GC rather than Gibson.
