I think he is playing an old Stella....note the volume or tone knob on the face....plus a big plate and pickup chord out the bottom......let's assume it HAS been altered from the original.....What I like is he mixes acoustic style with electric style, and he won the competition.....pretty unique from the rest of the wannabes......

yes, it looks like a stella or harmony to me as well. yet another example of how you dont (k)need a lot of dough (sorry - worst pun ever alert) to get mojo, tone and soul. that guy certainly had oodles of it. guitar + pup = less than $200. nice job.

Yup - I can.

1974 Harmony H6365 'hog Grand Concert fitted with a seventies Bill Lawrence sound-hole electric pup (the one before his 'A-series') into the Bassman (attenuated 12dB) into a 4x12 does it - but you have to stand off-side to avoid feedback. Can nail it as well with something like a BigMuffPi set just so to allow the amp to be turned down.

And as others have said - the chops may well be cliches, but what a gas to play.....

.....though I prefer just a tad more subtle these days (think..... Ry Cooder)

Been done. Jim (?) Schwall in the Seigal (?)-Schwall Band. Robbie Roberston behind Dylan for the Guthrie Tribute gig. Heck, Lightnin Hopkins! And that's just off the top of my head, before coffee, even. Just checked the clip again, strikes me as very of the "Im baaaad" category. Blues is a feeling, not shredding--even retro shredding.

He's enjoying playing - He's on stage - Kind of hard to improve on anight like that ... well unless you can get paid

Playing cliches for an hour is a zillion times better than working a day job - Then again listening to them may not be as much fun
