Murphy's aging work confirmation - 50th Anniversary 1958 Les Paul Japan Edition

Recommended Posts

Good morning.

I'm a pro musician from Italy and I've just bought a guitar from a reknown dealer (attached photos).

The guitar is a 50th Anniversary 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue Japan Edition (as reported on the COA), in LemonBurst finish.

The finish is aged and I was told this is one of the 75 Tom Murphy Aged guitars sent to Japan in 2008 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary.

The COA is missing Tom Murphy's signature. Could you please verify that the aging work was done by Tom Murphy himself?

Have you got any further infos on the guitar?

I'll kindly wait for your answers. Thanks in advance, best regards.

Francesco

I just bought one that is 88838 Japan 50th same as yours.

the guitar is incredible & shows a TM in the aging by the volume knobs.

please let me know if you were ever able to get an answer? I’m going to reach out to Gibson tomorrow & see if they can help.

i feel good cause the buyer has been nothing but a joy to work with & his rep is 100%.
