Smurfbird
I was just wondering what you NYC-area people think of Lark Street Music in Teaneck, NJ. Are the prices good? Have you had a good or bad experience there? I"m likely to be in that area in the near future and was wondering if it was worth the stop. It looks like a great place. But if the prices are to the moon it will just depress me. And if the prices are competitive, well then I've got another set of problems! But good ones! Thanks in advance for any insights you share. RichG
I have not been there although it is close by. It has been highly recommended to me by two pro guitar players I know who are also pretty savvy collectors. You can get an idea of prices from his web site. IMHO the prices on vintage stuff he shows are in line with other guys in the NY area like Umanov and Mandolin Bros. Keep in mind these are advertised prices. Don't know what happens if you show up with a fist full of pictures of dead presidents. If you're in NYC you should make the trip. Rich
J-1854Me
I stopped in there last summer -- they have an interesting selection of not only electrics (lots of cool stuff!) but also some pretty nice acoustics. I think he asks top-dollar retail on the guitars he has in stock; many of them have been there for years, so it seems that there's not a huge motivation by the current downturn to move stock. (At least that's my impression.) Nice place to visit, because Buzz has lots of cool stuff there, but ask lots of questions if you're serious about something. There's a great little coffee shop/diner about 6 or 7 doors east on the same street, if you need a break and some sustenance. Fred

CAMELEYE
I'm a long time and repeat customer, so there's your testimonial right there. Huge selection of great stuff, knowledgable folks, and Mr. Levine is a treasure. About five shops to the West you'll find Noah's Arc, best deli ever.
