bluesman0007 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Hi all, Since joining this forum it became a curiosity as to whether or not I had a real Epiphone Sheraton II. Although it would be nice to know it certainly wouldn't make much difference since she plays and sounds beautiful. I bought it used from Elderly Instruments in Lansing MI maybe 10 or 12 years ago. It has no identification anywhere. No serial number no labels inside. So it's a mystery to me. Anyone have any ideas. I have attached photos, didn't see any info about adding pictures, so excuse me if I've done something wrong. Thanks, Dennis
Old Rocker 59 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Elderly is a legit store with a great rep and they wouldn't sell you a fake . Enjoy your guitar .
Mark L Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 bluesman0007, attaching pictures seems to be the only way for us to help you solve that mystery. Unfortunately, I myself don't know how either. Have you tried checking out Sweetwater.com? Sweetwater has a great website and a recently upgraded Guitar Gallery. You can look at the HD pictures of samples of their Sheraton ii they have in stock and compare them to the one you have. Good luck!
RobinTheHood Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Yep, Elderly is top notch. They deal in a lot of vintage instruments and really know their stuff. It is highly unlikely that any fakes ever come out of Elderly. We really do need to see pics to properly identify your guitar. If you are positive that it is a Sheraton II, it sounds like it fits the MO of a late 1980's to early 1990's model, seeing as it has no serial or other identifying marks.
Gordy01 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 If you go to the D.I.Y thread at the top of the Electrics section of this forum, you will find detailed instructions how to insert pictures.
Thomse Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Here are some pictures. That is one nice Epiphone.......
mgrasso Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Nice looking Sheraton. Love the tobacco sunburst. A finish that needs to be reissued as a custom run after the 62s run out.
jonny_2_owls Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Looks 100% legit to me... Great lookin guitar!
winterland Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 + 1 on the Elderly shop. Good people and they know their stuff.
KVL Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Here are some pictures. Bluesman, That's a bogus, totally awful abomination and being the nice guy that I am will take it off your hands for you.
harvey wallbanger Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 That's a beautiful guitar! Love the finish.
bluesman0007 Posted April 21, 2013 Author Posted April 21, 2013 Thanks for all the advice etc. and KVL I know it's a poor example of a guitar, but I'll keep her just the same.

Maybe stripped and refinished (and if so, beautifully done) is probably the only call to be suggested as being the reason for missing numbers, but John Lennon did that to his Epi and that didn't hurt its value any.... :)
Jon S. Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 The color is original.... the reason for missing the serial# ? the sticker felt off................ +1.

I have really grown a fondness for arch tops in the last year or so.
