jaxson50 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Doing his daddy proud! http://thenewno2.com/videos/
Kennis Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Never heard of it before, so I thought "who's son?" then I saw him and, yea, George Harrison. Most famous musicians kids are pretty bad, but this is alright
cookieman15061 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Jax, I watched it earlier but didn't have time to comment. Yeah he grew up with good influences so I'm sure he'll be fine. It's gotta be the most difficult thing following in your father's enormously successful footsteps.
Tman Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Wow. You can sure tell who his influences are. Never too Late could have been on Magical Mystery Tour I think. I love it.
jaxson50 Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 My wife watched these videos with me last night and said it was like Dhani was channeling his dad. As much as his influence is obvious, Dhani is establishing himself as a artist on his own efforts and hard work. In a recent interview he talked about being the care taker of George's guitar collection and making sure they all get played, he invites friends to play them and they freak out! No! they say, they are like holy grail stuff. But Dhani wants them to be played. Lucky kid, no doubt, but he seems to have a level head about it.

surfpup Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Good stuff. He seems to "get" his dad on a lot of levels. Yet he can also bring it to a modern world as far as guitar technology etc. Impressive kid. George would be proud no doubt.
jaxson50 Posted April 16, 2013 Author Posted April 16, 2013 I looked at his footboard setup, I would be on my knees trying to see the switches and such! I'm not against big floor boards at all, I watched several of thenewno2 videos and have to say he uses them well.
kaleb Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Finally, a famous musician offspring that isn't a total snob. I appreciate that he makes sure his father's instruments get played. Most others would just make them showpieces. It's even sadder that there are guitar icons that treat their guitars like crap (one of the guys in my avatar...I'm sorry to say).
Dennis G Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 At the end of the Concert for George DVD, Macca says (paraphrasing) that "Olivia said that it looks like everyone on the stage got old except George" referring to Dhani. It's pretty obvious that this kid not only "gets it" he is damn near his Dad reincarnated. The similiarities in several regards are just downright spooky! But so nice to see that a son of priviledge is conscious of who he is, who his Dad was, and is a pretty talented guy in his own right. And he has oft been quoted as saying he doesn't want his Dad's guitars to be kept in some collection. He wants them to be played. I'd be honored just to touch one. I got to go to NAMM a couple years ago and they had the "Old Black Gretsch" on display in a case, rotating. I must have spent a good half hour there, just looking at every ding, scratch, etc. and thinking of the stories that guitar could tell.
