MrBax
Hello everyone, I recently purchased a new P-94T pickup. Once I got home and had a close look at the pickup I noticed a couple of things. First, I noticed that one of the solder joints on the back of the pickup, holding the cover in place, has come undone; so the cover is only being held by one solder joint and it can wiggle up and down a bit. I bought this pickup while out of town and it would be difficult for me to return it to the store for an exchange. So I'm wondering if this is a serious issue, or is this something i can easily fix myself with a soldering iron? The other thing I noticed is that the screw holes in the pickup legs have no threads and they're larger in diameter than the mounting screws. Is this normal or a manufacturing defect? How am I supposed to install the pickup? As I mentioned earlier, it's really not easy for me to return to the store where I bought the pickup, and I really didn't think I'd have any issues with a brand new Gibson pickup. I really appreciate any help and advice you guys may have. Thanks!

That does not sound right. P94
MrBax
Re-soldering should be fairly easy I would think and should be fine. Also, they did not supply mounting screws to go with them? That does not sound right. P94 They did supply two mounting screws and two springs. The problem is that the screw holes in the pickup legs have a larger diameter than the mounting screws (so the mounting screws easily slide in and out of the holes), and also the screw holes don't have any threads. So I'm not really sure how I'm supposed to mount the pickup. Perhaps I need to find some small nuts to put on the ends of the mounting screws. All of the mounting screws are generally the same diameter. I have never seen any difference in Gibson screws so it sounds like there might be a problem with the flange of the baseplate on the pick up. Also, most of the flanges don't really have much of a thread to speak of and they are hard to see but it sounds like there may be a problem with your pickup. I don't see how you could make a nut work unless you soldered it to the bottom of the flange.
cjsinla
If I was you, I would send an email to Gibson customer service. You can contact them through this website. They may let you work out some kind of exchange or replacement directly with them if you have the receipt. They were very helpful with me on a recent issue that I had.
