ParlourMan Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Do you have a link? I can only find his demo vid on you tube. Would like to have a read Sorry it was the video I was referencing, the written review doesn't review much, it's a general overview really. I started a thread about these a week or more ago, I tried it in GuitarGuitar in Glasgow, to save 400 words the bottom line is: If I had the slightest justification for owning a third slope I'd have bought it there and then. Sounded really great and was only £1199. Desperately trying to find a reason to own one.
Danner Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Tony big thumb from Music Villa posted one last week too. I'm grateful for Tony's contribution to the Internet knowledge base of new guitars. Especially the quiet environment and quality microphone, which enable me to clearly hear the sound of the guitar he is playing. His recent LG-2 AE performance was an excellent example of what I like. Maybe it's just me, but calling him "big thumb" is offensive and uncalled for.

If you buy one now, you will be getting one of the first batch. Isn't that reason enough??

Didn't much care for the LG2-AE myself, but we can't all like the same things.... Maybe it's just me, but calling him "big thumb" is offensive and uncalled for. See Nick's comment. Although arguably he's quite a tall fella, doesn't appear to have small hands either, so compared with smaller people he will have larger thumbs. But, you need to remember I'm a reductionist and in jest I have reduced Tony to his rather pronounced thumbing. I see no offence there, it's not like a called him a gluebag or a geebag or something. Had I to criticise Tony, I would have posted about his kickstarter campaign looking for people to invest in him making an album, him as the owner of several high end vintage pieces too, many people would have forgone a guitar if making the record was that important to them rather than asking strangers to pay for it for him. But I haven't said that anywhere ;)
dhanners623 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 I may need to check out a J-35, although the last thing I need is another guitar. That said, when a reviewer feels the need to criticize a guitar manufacturer for not adding a strap button to the neck heel, I find it kind of hard to take the review seriously. Strap button placement is a matter of personal taste, and it is something I would rather decide myself. I think Gibson recognizes this.

There may be some new songs in it, waiting for you to let them out! Red 333
dhanners623 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 There may be some new songs in it, waiting for you to let them out! Red 333 Trust me, Red, I'm tempted. But I'd have to sell something to justify getting it, and after all these years, I've finally got my small collection to the point where I like everything I've got too much to let any of them go. Or at least any of them that could bring that kind of money. Maybe I could sell the car, though....
davenumber2 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Man, if I wasn't married with a son I'd probably be living in a shack, dirt poor somewhere. I'd have a lot of nice guitars though.
