ES335 Pickups

I recently picked up a '70s Japanese ES335 copy, spent some time and money upgrading the electrics, CTS pots, Switchcraft switch & jack, paper/oil caps and treble bleeds. I love the way it turned out but I can't help feeling it would be even better with mellower pickups. The ones in are some high output (11K+) generic things the previous owner got from Ebay, although the tone is great the sound is a bit harsh, if you know what I mean.

Ideally I'm probably looking for pickups somewhere around 8K, I looked at Gibson 57s but modern sets come with the bridge a lot hotter than the neck, that wasn't the case with early 335s (which is what I'm aiming for), both were more or less the same. Anybody got any suggestions?

I would recommend a '57 Classic in both positions(or a '57 Classic Plus in the bridge for a little more output). Both very warm and around 8.5k.
