duluthdan Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Wide wide wide neck. Wonder how it might play? Wish i had a motorcycle to trade.
tpbiii Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Here is what an original sounds like -- no idea how similar to the reissue. Best, -Tom
onewilyfool Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Isn't that a little stiff on the price for one of those??? I almost bought one new for $2800 once.....from that guy in Texas......who shall remain nameless....lol
j45nick Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Wide wide wide neck. Wonder how it might play? Wish i had a motorcycle to trade. Fuller's frequently puts the Luthier's Choice necks on their special editions. My Fuller's 1943 SJ has this neck. It is wide at the nut (I'm in Italy now so I can't measure it), I believe about 1 25/32" or even 1 13/16" (a bit over 45mm). The neck section is a flattened D shape with no V at all. It feels quite wide, particularly if you fret the low E string with your thumb at some times. Not as wide as a classical neck, but getting up there.
62burst Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Yes, a bit optimistic on the asking price, but comparing it to the adi/ walnut Jackson Browne wood be interesting.
theevdawg Posted April 19, 2013 Author Posted April 19, 2013 the neck isn't as nearly as big as an original. It on the bigger side of the Fullers necks in width. I'm thinking about listing this on eBay soon if anyone is interested.

And you are doing it here, not in the Classifieds section. This type of activity is frowned upon pretty hard here. Please learn some etiquette or refrain from posting anymore.

MY BAD, as a new member I cannot post in the classfieds for some reason. :(
michaelsegui Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 I work 10 minutes from there! Too bad I gave my Honda 750FourK to my brother.
j45nick Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 MY BAD, as a new member I cannot post in the classfieds for some reason. :( Because they don't want people joining the forum just for the purpose of selling things. Only regular contributors get to list things for sale in the Trading Post section. Once you have posted in other sections of the forum, you will be able to post things for sale.

ballcorner Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 On the topic of decorum, I wonder if it makes more sense to simply tell a new person that they have to post a certain number of replies or topics before they can access the Classifieds section? The hostility and sarcasm around here keep people from joining and maintaining a relationship to the board. It is all fine and well that twelve of you want to use it as your own personal scratching post - but maybe there is another way you can do that without wrecking this place. So, to the poster: You have to be active on the forum to use the Classified section. Indeed, it is not OK to offer an instrument for sale in the regular section, however, you could use the board this way instead: Hi, I am looking to offer a Gibson on eBay, and I am wondering if some people around here could offer some tips on what type of information I should place in the ad and what kind of photos you normally look for as buyers? The guitar is a . . . . See, you make people aware of the guitar's availability - but you succumb to their desperate ego needs by offering them a way to advise you with all their learned knowledge. The best way to manipulate stupid people is to understand their motivations. Feed the cow, drink the milk.
theevdawg Posted April 25, 2013 Author Posted April 25, 2013 Again, I apologize for souring everyones day by posting a guised ad. THE REAL THREAD IS NOW HERE: http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/101013-2003-gibson-roy-smeck-stage-deluxe/

There's a lot to be said for consistency.

THE REAL THREAD IS NOW HERE: http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/101013-2003-gibson-roy-smeck-stage-deluxe/ No biggie, Evan. I think the person who explained why you couldn't post in the Trading Post did so about as politely as one could. Also- the posts suggesting that the asking price might be a bit high may've been remembering the 12 fret Jackson Browne that recently languished on the trading post for so long that I think Big G removed the ad, as that beautiful guitar was looking to be sold for about $2200. No need for low-balling there. Good luck with the sale. I think your mahogany bodied 12 fret might even have more warmth than the J B (?).

Consider yourself told. ;)

The JB has walnut back and sides and this RS has mahog back and sides with red spruce top. Pretty lively sound after throwing in some fossilized pins, works with the serious depth well.
