jaxson50 Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 LONDON (AP) — English graphic designer Storm Thorgerson, whose eye-popping album art for Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin encapsulated the spirit of 1970s psychedelia, died Thursday. He was 69. http://music.msn.com/music/article.aspx?news=803332&ocid=ansent11
jdgm Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Yes. R.I.P. A true original whose images became a very influential part of 60s and 70s pop culture in the UK. Books worth a look; 'For The Love Of Vinyl - The Album Art Of Hipgnosis' by Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell. All of their covers discussed. '100 Best Album Covers' by Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell. Very subjective but excellently reproduced images and photos, with some great insights and stories behind the covers. I had to buy this when I saw the Wes LP 'Road Song' cover in there. 'Mind Over Matter - The Images Of Pink Floyd' by Thorgerson and Peter Curzon. Explains an awful lot. Incredible photos. I think it is very likely that everyone who reads this will have a Thorgerson/Hipgnosis image of some sort somewhere in their home, if only in the CD/LP collection....and most of this was decades before Photoshop and CGI. Storm - a very cool name!
