Brewboy Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I had a nice first show last night with the new J35. I went straight to the sound board, and only using a mike in the past with the Martin D18V I had, I can't say I was overly pleased with what I was hearing out of the monitor. A little bright and quacky. After the show though, I had quite a few people come up to me and say how good the guitar sounded. Much more definition then the past. So, maybe I just had a bad monitor mix. I may consider getting a DI box. The guitar played beautifully, with no hand cramping I was experiencing with the Martin. So, all is well there. Very happy with this guitar.
onewilyfool Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Good to hear...do you play instruments or sing with?
Brewboy Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 I sing and play guitar. Mostly my own songs.
MissouriPicker Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Glad the new guitar is working for you, Brewboy. Bonding with a new guitar is a pretty cool experience. Sounds like you've got a good one.
duluthdan Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 You may find a better impedence match using a DI into the mixer. I have a Mackie that has a Hi-Z switch on one channel to accomodate a guitar pickup without using a DI box - but if that switch isn't engaged it sounds like mud.
