I know it is called a flower pot, but it's unlike any flower pot I've ever seen in real life. I've always called it a torch or a burning urn (Greek/Roman style), as it just appeals to my classical sensibilities. They've done a number of versions of this over the years. The one on my '48 J-45 is not a "factory" job, but it was modeled after one of the versions from the 1930's that was used on both the L-5 and some of the mandolin headstocks: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
