I used to listen to Ritchie in Montreal where he started playing, IMPOSSIBLE to play guitar like him...his thumbs are twice as big as mine.......he can play a single chord wirth his thumb....lol....open tunings, not my style, but he could find any chord that we can play, and there isn't another voice like his!!! R.I.P Ritchie, you gave me HOURS of entertainment!!

No!

What a great interpreter of music. Richie was probably the hardest slamming guitar player since Bukka. A nice change of pace in a world filled with delicate "fingerstylists." He could get more mileage out of an open tuning than just about anybody.

He will be missed.

I still remember his performance in the Woodstock movie...and I have seen that in 30 years. I got to play a sig Guild Richie Havens model once...didn't know much about guitars then but remember it had a big double pick guard.

He always seemed to be such a sweet and gentle man.

His playing style was certainly unique. Now there's a man who could use the thumb on his fretting hand!

Uhm hm. He played our college way out in Indiana back in the day. Very unique and personal way of doing things. Good singer, too.
