Modern Relic?

There is nothing cooler than a 40+ year old guitar that has seen it's share of bar fights. It has character and is probably linked to 1000 stories.

Likewise, there is nothing lamer than a new guitar that's seen a belt sander. It's just as bad as a 6-cyl Mustang with GT badging or a Chinese Les Paul.

That was my old man rant for the day.

I don't mind the ones where the age-thing has been done very well such as the stuff produced by Dave Johnson at Historic Makeovers. Some have been stunningly convincing.

What I don't understand is why Fender make theirs look so very, very bad.

Have they never looked at old guitars? And that type of wear pattern on the fingerboard? THEY DO NOT AGE LIKE THAT!

And what's that nonsense with the scratchplate turning brown at the edges? For crying out loud; it isn't a 17th Century etching!

Just Stupid.

P.S.: Just in case You were wondering: there is a ding with diameter about 1.5 millimetres between the bridge and the stopbar.

Hello Pippy!

If You don't know it's there, You'll never find it. But I know, and it bothers me. [blink]

(That's how maniac I am about the condition of my guitars.)
