1960 southern jumbo

I hear ya nick! Times are tough few years ago would have been gone. That being said I doubt there are many around in that shape

I'd prefer 1957 or earlier, preferably with the normal mahogany stain rather than the cherry stain, which has never been my favorite. My ideal post-war SJ would be pre-1955, with the small guard, 19 frets, scalloped top bracing, and tapered headstock. Nothing sweeter!

I'm with you there no doubt!

Myhre's had a handful of late '40s and an early '50s J-45s and J-50 a few years back, and a late '50s CW too all at the same time -- pretty unusual! -- and they were all great sounding examples.

Nice store, nice people.

Your right Fred Byron is a great guy! Even let me play his old martins while I was in there picking. They seem to have slowed on the stock though now. Wish I could have been there while they all those vtg gibsons that would have been fun.

The neck looks thick in the pictures zomby almost like a 50s. Ya your right not the best burst is it

In 1960 Gibson went to what they described as the slim, fast, low action neck. I mean this thing is thin. The necks Gibson used from 1960 to 1963 were the skinniest they ever put on an acosutic. In 1963 they beefed them up a bit but then went to the narrow nut in 1965.

MOP....hard to see from the pics...BUT....saddle looks low,and it appears that the bridge is lower than normal, meaning it may have been shaved to avoid the neck reset. If it needs a neck reset and new bridge, that can get pricey although the action may be good now. Very nice shape.....again, that is pretty top dollar for a '60, let's us know what it plays like when you get it!!
