Hairy Dave Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Gorgeous guitar - health to enjoy! What kind of saddle is that?
rebelwoclue Posted April 25, 2013 Author Posted April 25, 2013 Gorgeous guitar - health to enjoy! What kind of saddle is that? My luthier tells me he thinks its a fossilized ivory saddle- nut and pins are bone as well he says. He said they did a custom-type job on this one.

rebelwoclue Posted April 25, 2013 Author Posted April 25, 2013 If it sounds half as good as it looks...! My wife said last night to get rid of the "tinny sounding one" (Taylor)- she said this one sounds great!
j45nick Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 To my eye, the SJ is one of Gibson's most esthetically-pleasing designs, and this one is a great example (although I don't like the pickguard placement, but that's just me.....).
BigKahune Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 . What a beautiful top. Great burst and love the grain - borders on figuring. Congrats. . B) .
larryp58 Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Hmmm, tear-drop firestripe pickguard and an unbound fretboard. Maybe a Woody Guthrie SJ perhaps? Does it have a factory pick-up? Regardless, nice SJ!!! Enjoy!

CindyC Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 My wife said last night to get rid of the "tinny sounding one" (Taylor)- she said this one sounds great! Congratulations, that is a very beautiful guitar!! I know just what your wife means, such a difference in sounds. My Taylor doesn't get much play now that I have a few Gibson's. Enjoy!
jannusguy2 Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Very nice! I hope you enjoy it for many years to come.
Del Nilppeznaf Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 My wife said last night to get rid of the "tinny sounding one" (Taylor)- she said this one sounds great! haha great bit of honest unbiased assessment there. she does indeed look mighty fine..congrats.
bram99 Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 It's kind of funny because I have long surfed the web and this forum and looked at countless photos of Gibson guitars...and still...you post pics of this guitar and my first thought is ...Wow! Stunning. That guitar just looks like a keeper...
onewilyfool Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 My wife said last night to get rid of the "tinny sounding one" (Taylor)- she said this one sounds great! LOL...I've got to agree with her about Taylors....that is one FINE looking guitar..congrats!!!
zombywoof Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Great, now we will see posts over at AGF about the guys at the Gibson Forum bashing Taylors. Congrats on th new guitar. What really struck me is the top wood - looks to made from a perfectly sawn piece of lumber.

What really struck me is the top wood - looks to made from a perfectly sawn piece of lumber. LOL- didn't mean to do that- she was just honest about her taste in sound. If the other 19 banner SJs made in 1991 (from what I have been led to believe) are like this one, they had a very good year in Bozeman, MT. in '91. I am very pleased with this guitar- it was worth the wait.
JuanCarlosVejar Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 WOW !!! incredible SJ ! enjoy it and love it JC
