Twang Gang
OK - I'm old and a little feeble minded but this seems confusing to me. They are issueing a 20th anniversary of a '57 in 2013. I'm sorry but '57 was 56 years ago - not 20. So I guess they are celebrating the 20th year of the Custom Shop? So 20 years ago in 1993 the Custom Shop made a reissue of a '57 and now they are doing it again? Nice looking guitar but seems like a real long way to go to celebrate 20 years. Why not just say we are doing a '57 reissue (like we did 20 years ago). I just think in another 20 years when you go to cash it in with the white gloves and special hand made cert of authenticity a potential buyer is going to be real confused - 20th anniversary of what!! So 20 years ago in 1993 the Custom Shop made a reissue of a '57 and now they are doing it again? My understanding is they are just celebrating the 20th an. of the Custom Shop. But that pointy-horn looks more like a Norlin-era Custom to my eyes.... P.
BobF_
The 2013, 20th anniversary '57 looks the same as my 1999, 6th anniversary '57. Except for the tuning keys. Mine came with the rounded Grovers.

OK, so I'm not the only one who was confused. I think I'm going to start saving now for the 2033 20th Anniversary Reissue of the 20th Anniversary Reissue of the 1957 Les Paul Custom Kinda reminds me of the Signature model Les Pauls, which by name are already Signature model guitars. So hypothetically some future hotshot (we'll call him Blazin Blues) could make his bones playing the Joe Bonamassa Signature Les Paul. 20 years from now the Blazin Blues Joe Bonamassa Les Paul might be available. Riffster
No danger to me, I never GAS for Customs, those large block inlays are a total cock block to me on any guitar.
AXE®
Why are they quitting ebony? Not going to speculate without the true facts. I'm under the impression someone in a position of authority at the company sh!t the bed. Twice. lolz. Seeing that this is Gibson's "official" website maybe one of there more forthcoming employees will chime in. Because they are so efficient at keeping the public updated and all. daveinspain
Not really a gold hardware person but gold hardware on a black custom was meant to be. It looks right, it's classy and that's what they were going for when they designed that guitar... I think the only other guitar I have with golf hardware is my Johnny A. Works on that guitar too... Murph
My daughter has a Studio with the Burst and Gold and it actually has grown on me. I also like the way it wears. Dave has some nice stuff. Dave is cool. If I still drank, I'd have a toast to Dave.....
daveinspain
Hey Murph, thanks for that... I'm also working my butt off trying to become a competent guitar player. When I joined this forum 6 or 7 years ago I wasn't even playing guitar yet. And now with the help, advice, tips and collective knowledge from everyone here I am actually out there playing in a band and writing and composing with guitar... So double cheers to all of you guys...
