Has anyone checked out this months guitar world?

Eddie Van Halen is debuting his latest guitar next month...

*Yawn*

Gibson...When Eddie gets fed up with Fender ( its coming )

Hell come running to you. Itll take a year or so to make the "new" guitar, and then Eddie will say...

and I quote "This is the best guitar I have ever made" he is sooo yesterdays news and so predictable.

I see in the pictures that hes still smoking too. Even though he got tongue cancer and had half of his tongue

removed.....so hes an idiot as well.

I look at it this way: The guy has had a career in music for over 30 years. During that time, I'm sure his tastes and preferences in guitars have changed and evolved over the years (I know mine have). If someone wants to make a signature guitar for him and they get to make some money on the deal, they both win; I'm sure he's made a LOT of money during his career so I highly doubt he does it just for some free gear.

If you want to look at a couple of guys who seem to endorse and have "signature" EVERYTHING, look no further than Zakk Wylde and Slash. How many signature Gibsons do those guys have alone?

You know what the lamest thing about this post is Deepblue? O:) (not saying the post is lame, but EVH).

It's that you (or maybe it was me?) made the same kind of post less than 2 months ago, about the same guy (dont remember if it was about his newest (and greatest to date) amp or FX or underwear).

So yes, I agree 100% with you, he is predictable and in fact "sooo yesterdays news" it hurts... this guy is so lame.

I just hope you are wrong this time and he does not come to gibson for his soon to be "best guitar I've made or played".

At least Zakk and slash let their pic sell their sig guitars and keep their mouths shut.

The most annoying thing to come out of the collectors market in the last few years is when they remake a guitar that has been beat the hell out of. And dumb asses actually pay more for the EVH with the cigarette burns and snot stuck to it. WTF.. I just don't get it. Doesn't matter to me weather it's by Gilmore, EVH, SRV, or Jeff Beck its a beaten up guitar.

I do understand buying a signature series guitar, but not one that is half way to hell with pick ups that don't work and a toggle switch that does nothing.

I think EVH is a great player and has done some great things for guitar. I don't plan on buying any of his sig gear, but the guy is good.

If we ranked him on a scale of 1 (being bad) to 10 (being an excellent player) where would he rank? that sort of ranking reminds me of a thread here not too long ago about how good of a player are you?

*Pushes back urge to be a Buckethead fan and tell people how wrong they are*

Ok I'm good

I don’t need to do this for financial reasons. I could have just stayed at home and built this guitar for myself. I do this because a lot of people ask if they can get what I use. Well' date=' yes you can and what you get is identical to what I use.”[/quote']

I don't think he would lie about that, he's already hella rich, you can only have SO much money.

Do I think he is only doing this for the "love of guitar" of course not, but he isn't just a lame sellout.

Homeboy wrote eruption for god's sake, he can do whatever he wants and still be awesome

...kid, you are after all, still a kid. There is not such a thing as "enough money" (I am not talking for myself, but for women and certain mega rich and famous people).

And yes, I am positive he would lie about it. You think they would buy his amp if he said: "I dont use them, they are crap you are paying for the EVH flavor of the month" or "they are as good as any marshall"?

You think, after his endorsement with peavey went sour he would have told anyone to go and buy 5150s and 6065s? (if that's how they are called now).

I dont think so... he would lie and say the EVH is a better amp in all its features, and you need one of those, because he says it is the best damn thing he has ever played through.

I hope you dont feel bad for what I have said, it was in the best of intentions and just my opinion, to which I am entitled to, and which you might not agree with. Please dont leave the forum because my post wasnt of your liking.(just trying out one of the ideas for my soon to be signature).

I agree, it is annoying when there's a whole bunch of different signature models, though in Slash's defense, I have to say it is pretty cool that they have an Epiphone model. At least that way someone whose a big fan and wants to get an LP that's up to Slash's specs, but at a fraction of the cost can still pick one up.

As for Ed, the whole fifty different versions of the Wolfgang, yea, that's annoying too. However I do agree with what one of ya'll said (sorry, too tired to scroll up and look) about as you get older your taste, style and what you feel comfortable changes. God knows Ed's playing I think has definatly gotten better and better with each album. I personally find his playing on III, even though most fans hate it, I think it's a solid album with great, interesting playing.

Oh, come on! How much money do you think he gets for having his name on a guitar compared to how much he makes when touring? I guarantee you that he makes more money playing ONE show and selling a crapload of $35 t-shirts than he does from an entire endorsement deal.

Exactly why I said what I said... I know some folks that are made of money and they still will do whatever it takes for one more dime. They make hundreds of thousands monthly but will reach out and make 10 more bucks. They just can't let a buck pass by them without grabbing it [-(

I would do the same thing if I were Eddie. Why the hell not. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy his crap. And it is not like he is ripping off little kids. I am pretty sure his fan base in their 30s, 40s and even early 50s.

And I would give my left nut (actually, I would give Thunder's left nut) to have his talent.
