Spring around the Sacred Mountain

Hello!

I have shot a couple of pictures just outside my garden. This is the mountain Pilis, which is a sacred place according to many nations and religions. The Dalai Lama called it the heart chakra of Earth. There are many celtic ruins of religious buildings from the 9th century. Also the ancient Huns and Magyars had religious places there. The one and only Hungarian christian convent was formed here in 1250, the Order of St. Paul the First Hermit.

This is the view to the West of the village. On one of the hills, there was a small monastery where Elizabeth Bathory lived for a while. The foundations of the building are still visible, although there are no evidences about the habitant of the building - it is kind of a legend:

Hello CoreyT!

It is a real wonderland for sure! I wish, I had a better camera, tough - all I have with it is trouble. [cursing]

Anyways...

When I decided to move out from the capital to the countryside, I visited all the villages in a 40-kilometre radius of Budapest. When I found my current house, the decision of buying was made right at the spot where I shot the first picture from. :)

Cheers... Bence

Wow that is really beautiful! Your lucky to have that outside your door. I never realized Magyar was a term used for the native people of Hungary. Had to Wikipedia it. Magyar was my aunts last name she married a man from Hungary. Her mother in law taught her some great recipes that got passed down to me. Best of them is Hungarian nut cookies all the girls would make together. We all remember Aunt Annie when we enjoy them. What a beautiful place you live in, now I have to put Hungary on my list to visit some day.

Thank You, CindyC! :)

In case You are going to visit the country, just PM me and I will gladly collect You the places to visit on a list.

"Magyar" is a wider term, that covers all the descendants (Huns, Scythians, Avars, Medes, etc.) of Nimrud, grandson of Noah. But - yes - we simply call ourselves "Magyar". In fact, the word "Hungarian" doesn't makes any sense at all.

Cheers... Bence

Thank you Bence, I will do that! Interesting they would take that as they're last name perhaps it happened at Ellis Island when they immigrated to the US. I've heard of this happening.
