....I haven't used it much yet but I haven't really had anyone to collab with, or much time to do it with the baby around.

Oh that's right...most of you don't record music. My bad. :)

[laugh]

Shred, my 'baby' is now 8 and I still don't have much time............

Perhaps when she's 21 and leaves home I'll be able to give the lab a try out...

I record all the time. I've just never been a big fan of the online DAWs. My connection is sort of slow and they end yup being all glitchy on me. I usually just record my parts and email them or drop box them to whoever I'm working with and they mix it on their end. In fact I'm working on two such projects right now. One of for a friend of minds EP and the other is for the upcoming Six String Bliss Blues album.

I record music into a thing called a "multi track recorder". I got no time for coming home from a wonderful day phukking around with computers to go down and sit next to nine guitars three keyboards a drum machine 6 pairs of monitors and 4 amps while phukking with yet another computer. I also stopped collaborating as soon as I could record and do all the work myself. Collaboration is generally a term used to mean "at some point in the future, one of us is going to get screwed".

But there is nothing wrong with collaborating or using the internet to work with others, I think it is way kewl technology that just doesn't happen to suit me and the time I am from and the way I work to make music.

I was getting the hand of recording until I upgraded my recording setup and have not been able to record anything since.

My Mac does not even recognize my USB interface and I am freaking lost. I have about 5 or 6 ideas I would love to record but I have spent hours trying to figure things out and have not been able to.

Have you tried downloading the drivers for your particular interface? I know my ancient mbox stopped being recognized and I bought a new mbox and finally went with a really sweet focusrite. I will be checking this program out fr sure. I love collaborating.

Two versions of Pro Tools here, which I've never mastered < pun I suppose. I prefer the "old" multitrack recorder and the " ancient" anolog mixer board. Showing age here boss!#-o

I did, last I tried I had to run a "fix permissions" on my Mac or something along those lines.

What sucks is that I attended the free recording lessons for GarageBand at GC and I know how to record using my setup but the damn thing will not allow adjusting the recording level, it is greyed out. It does recognize the interface and its settings but I cannot add and assign channels.

I am about to buy a new Mac and will leave the one I have exclusively for recording, that should help.
