"The Light Still Burns" is number 3!

Hello, all.

I just got some wonderful news and couldn't help sharing it. "The Light Still burns," the companion CD to "Kalamazoo Gals," is the number 3 folk music album in the US, topping new CDs by the likes of Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, EmmyLou and Rodney, and Steve Earle! Click on the "April 2013" link on the Folk Radio site.

It's such a thrill to see 5 years of hard work begin to succeed.

Its been getting daily play in my car on way from work JT, just waiting for the book and it will be complete.

The last two tracks are the killers, always start with those, actually been playing along to the Gillian Welch cover on my Banner LG-2

Congratulations on a great project, and well deserved success !

Congrats JT! Loaned my copy to my neighbor who thoroughly enjoyed it she said. Very entertaining book to read I believe were her words. Told her she'd be getting the accompanying CD for Christmas this year, so get that inventory built up for year end [biggrin]

John

I haven't received a copy of this CD yet -- what gives??

Fred

Fred,

What gives is that I was hoping to combine the CD shipment to Kickstarter supporters with the t-shirt shipment. I didn't find the first run of t-shirts to my liking so I'm now working with a different supplier.

Well, the t-shirt issue, talks in 5 countries in the fall, Kalamazoo Gal talks and interviews across the country since February, upcoming Congressional testimony, a day job in which I'm designing an integrated law school/med school curriculum, freelance writing obligations, and probating my mother's estate.

I do hope that you know that you can phone or email me at any time if you've questions. I'm doing my best, although as I've often told my kids, sometimes my best isn't very good.

I'm looking foreword to seeing you in Bozeman.

Aha!

I was about to complain about my cd copy missing in the mail.....

Thanks Fred - now you are the whiner and not me!

Congratulations JT!

I read a fair bit - I was halfway through Tom Wolfe's novel "Back To Blood" when Kal Gals arrived - tough decision - finish novel, read Kal Gals, finish novel - phew - read a few chapters of Kal Gals to satisfy my curiosity and back to finishing 'Blood' which is quite bizarre and foolish by the way - and then I picked up Kal Gals 'for a minute' and read 50 pages............fantastic so far - I will just have to sit down and read it all now.

I can see that I should have bought the Banner LG2 when that cunning EA and others bought theirs recently - I guess the price is going to hit the roof now if it hasn't already.

Speaking of books, has anyone read the new novel: "Southern Cross The Dog"?

I mention this here, JT, because you have a great sense of humour for a historian lawyer geek guitarist type (HA!) and I am a sucker for a novel with an acoustic guitar or blues mentioned on the front, and so I suggest and request that your next book project be a romantic acoustic guitar fiction humour serious novel sort of thing with a bit of Delta Blues and Gibsons and Nationals and picking and slide guitar and pretty girls a bit younger than the Kal Gals!

That is, after you have finished the Kal Gal Movie - Steve Martin's fave saying is that Hollywood is the only place where you can fired by someone in a Hawaiin shirt and shorts...........

There's gotta be a joke about learning to sue yourself for malpractice in there somewhere.

Thanks for setting the record straight about why some of the CDs haven't shipped yet. I guess I just found it peculiar that folks in other areas had them in hand, and so I wondered if the Postmaster General had intercepted them.

Anyhow, I'll sit tight and go play my guitar, light burning or not! [biggrin]

Fred,

I figure t-shirts shouldn't hold up the CDs. So, I mailed 'em (to all folks) this morning.

Great news about the CD being on the way. I'm really looking forward to hearing it in its entirety.

Do you do any of the music from the cd yourself when you do the talks?

Lars

Thanks, Lars!

Yes, I do play some of those arrangements.

And Rob, I owe you a book and CD in return for the use of your great J-45 on the recording sessions. I'll have them for you in Bozeman.

... your great J-45 ...

Looking forward to seeing you there! The J-45 is on the short list of guitars that will be making the trip up with me -- in the number three slot, to be specific -- so you'll probably be seeing it again.

Bob,

Very cool! I love that guitar. I'll be bringing my went-to-the-war SJ.

I'm looking forward to meeting you and your bride.

All in the standard Canadian Time Zone? BTW, my wife was singing along with Lauren on the drive to work today.
