nfwestergreen Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I recently purchased 4 new Les Pauls. 2 of them are Customs with Sparkle Tops, and, 2 are Standards with Sparkle Tops. 3 of the 4 are new 08 guitars, one is a 07. Can you please tell me what Pickups are in these Customs, the seller was unsure. Are they the same as the regular Customs or anything special about these guitars? Are they weight relieved? These are very, very cool looking guitars! Oh, by the way they sound awesome like all of my Lesters!!! I was hoping you could give me an idea of how many of these Sparkle finish Lesters will be produced, as I have only seen Sparkle tops on vintage Customs previously. Serial #'s for the Customs are CS80960 (Red Sparkle) & CS80963 (Silver Sparkle) Serial #'s for the Standards are CS77138 (Red Sparkle w/ Black Tribal Flames) & CS80420 (Blue/Silver Sparkle Burst)
Custom Admin Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 the Customs are built out like normal non-Historic Customs, so they would have 490 and 498 pickups as usual. These should not be weight relieved. the Standards most likely have '57 Classics but i will have to try to confirm that on Monday...some of these were weight relieved and some weren't, it just depends on what the base model was. take off the large rear control cover and look inside...if you can see a large channel leading into the body then the guitar is weight relieved. no channel, no weight relief.
