Talking about the other guy...

I frequent many guitar forums and this one is the best in my opinion. It is definitely more diverse in terms of guitar ownership and in general positive comments from the posters.

The worlds so called biggest guitar forum (no names) does have Gibson owners commenting but in a very small minority. Overall Gibson gets bashed unmercifully. Occasionally there are positive Gibson posts.

Lately the PRs forum has had a lot of positive Gibson posts, especially on Les Pauls. Appears there are many PRS owners who own Gibson guitars too.

Fender forums are similar, I rarely see Gibson bashing there, appears most folks who own a Strat or Tele also own a LP or SG.

Then there are the dedicated few rabid Taylor and Martin enthusiasts, with nothing good at all to say about Gibsons.

I prefer Gibsons but I own all major brands. For acoustic I prefer Gibbys. For electric gigging: Strat or Korina PRS. Studio recording: my Les Pauls (too damn heavy for gigs)

My best value guitars are definitely Gibson.

I've mentioned this before...but, it may apply to a lot of us?

I love All my guitars (Gibson, Epi, Fender, Gretsch, Ric) for their differnces,

as well as any similarities. I think that probably applies to folks who might

have a "preference" for one brand, but also own several others, for those same

reasons. I really don't know, which guitar I'd choose, if I had to have only

one???! [tongue][confused] All I know, for sure, is that I'm glad I don't have to make

that choice...yet, anyway.

The Fender Forum is a lot like this one, in fact, there are a number of "us" who post there regularly. It's very well moderated forum, the main admin is very active, and responsive if you have problems or questions. But much like here, the forumites do tend to self regulate, so it's not like he's babysitting all the time either.

The topics gravitate more toward fenders instruments and gear, just like this one and gibson, but it's more or less a fairly welcoming crowd, but this forum seems to be to be more even handed and just friendly IMO. There's a few participants who are extremely well versed in electronics and amp repair. Especially fender amps, so if you have a question about one, bring it there and you'll get answers pretty fast.

OTOH, I still spend more time surfing this forum than there. This place is just more fun I think..

I enjoy this forum very much, as many of us own other guitars besides Gibsons.

I am on two PRS forums, one unofficial, and one run by the company which is an official one.

On that forum you are not allowed to put up fresh threads on other guitars or amps, but if there are threads where you can show off your guitars, posting pics of non PRS ones are OK as long as you have PRS ones in the pictures too.

But try to put up a new thread say for a NGD or NAD, and if it is not a PRS one, it will get yanked and you will get a PM about not doing it again.

Talk about Nazi behavior. Glad Gibson isn't like that. PRS isn't going to lose one dime if someone sais, "I got a new Fender." [cursing]

I only come to one forum to participate, but I quietly go to tele and strat forums and read. Also, gearsluts and forums for music production get my visits, but again, I only look. If they don't have the topic I searching listed or I don't get the answer I want in relation to guitars, I come here. Ya'll are my peeps.
