dc3c46
I thought it would never happen to me, but here it is: my 2 year old 339 shows flaking of paint around the strap button(back) and light blistering at the seam of the binding. This guitar ("custom shop") has always been in a climate controlled environment and was never gigged. My Gretsch and Les Paul which are older don't show any signs of problems. There is no affect on playability of course, but the resale value definitely suffered. Warranty regarding faulty craftsmanship? What to do? Searcy
If I recall properly the warranty excludes finish. I think I'm right there. I'm not sure as I never buy new.
Tim Plains
Does "True North" mean Canada and did you buy it from a Canadian store? We only get a one year warranty through Yorkville Music up here. If you bought it from an authorized US Gibson dealer, and if it is covered under the warranty, you would have to take the guitar to the US to be fixed. Honestly, if it were my guitar, I would just leave it be, but if you must fix it, find a good local luthier.

kidblast
ya man Gibson warranty usually doesn't extend to finish issues, but this sounds like it could be defective. I remember there was a rash of Fender finish issues last year, (fender also excludes finish issues in their warranty), but they did man up and admitted they had a problem, and in these cases they did offer warranty services for those who had the problem (similar to your problem as I recall). On the other hand, you could be in for a long drawn out resolution with Gibson while they drag their feet and try to push it back on you as something they wont cover. Maybe for peace of mind, find a repair guy that knows his stuff about finish work and see what he thinks. Does sound like something beyond "normal" expectations has happened here.. Good luck /Ray
