Hexeir
I've got an '01 Les Paul Studio I've had since I was very young, it was my first nice guitar. Well, after three years of me owning it, something came loose in the pickups. So I had to buy new ones. Well, instead of buying something reasonable, being a Zakk Wylde fan, you know what I did.... ...And so now I have an 81/85 set of EMGs and also the pots that come with them in my Gibby. Luckily, I did do the wiring myself, and I still have the original Gibson pots!! So: here is the deal... I'm replacing them with real pickups. So far, I want a P94R, in the Neck position ( humbucker sized P90). I haven't decided what I want in the bridge! Tell me what you have and why! I like tonal clarity, and I really like to "feel" the notes I play, something you wouldn't get out of an EMG.
Les Paul Fanatic
Here's my pups... In my VM Studio, I have Burstbucker Pros, very clean, when they're dirty, they bite, and if I roll off the treble just right and dial the Eq. in on my amp and pedal I get almost a P-90 sound. Now as for the EMG's not everyone can pull them off right. I have the same set, you just got to know how to dial everything in, cause EMG's are hotter pickups than regular Gibson pups. But yeah, if you're going for clarity, a BB Pro will do it for you.

:oilpit:
can't go wrong with a BB pro, 57 classic plus, or a Seymour Duncan 59, Alnico 2 Pro, Pearly gate or Custom
FennRx
throw a BB 2 or 3 in the bridge. kinda like having a BFG. the p90/bb3 in the BFG is freakin awesome.
djroge1
I'm making some changes in my LP and for the past 28 or so years I've had a DiMarzio Dual Sound in the Bridge. I'm going to replace it with a DiMarzio Virtual Hot PAF - they have discontinued that model however. Once I'm up and running I can comment on that one. Oh and I have a DiMarzio Air Classic in the neck position.
KSG_Standard
Out of all of the Gibson pickup combos that I have (490r/490t, 490r/498t, '57 classic/'57 classic, P90/P90) my favorite combo is a pair of '57 classics. Creamy, chalky, sweet goodness, mmmm. THe P90s are pretty awesome too, I've never tried a P94.

Dynadude
If you are looking for clarity and feel, then you definately want to go with single coils, but you will need to change pots and caps to get the tone you are looking for.
retrosurfer1959
when you were real young in 2001 huh My original from when I was real young is a 1971 LP and I agree with the single coil in the neck slap a BB3 in the bridge it's a versatile, fun combination with the lack of looks of a owning a BFG
Hexeir
Then you are still very young beacuse it's been very few years since '01 lol I'm 21 and I got it when I was 14...
