rocketman Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Sounds really nice! I like the guitar and bass work a lot. Yes, the song is still relevant. So is this one too (oldie but goodie): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIiUqfxFttM
Kennis Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 another great one from Frank on a similar subject: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9pUoVy_wW0 and my favorite performance of it, by a modern genius: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjjyOVZ3BZI
milod Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I'm reminded of an airplane ride once where I sat next to a lady who was a university Shakespeare prof. We talked about various plays, their study and how they're taught. I mentioned that I enjoyed most of what I'd read of Shakespeare, including putting it into perspective as how it might have first been performed on stage. Except... for King Lear. She asked only, "How old were you when you read it?" I was 17. Her response was, "I think Lear isn't really understood until you're 40 or more... You should read it again." That, I think, has also to do with pop "standards" in music. They tend to have both music and lyric that gain increasing impact on one as one matures in one's music appreciation and performance at their own level of talent and skill. m
