CyanShayan
Im still on the hunt to buy my first Gibson LP but i just cant decide what to buy. Ive been goin back and forth with the les paul studio 50s tribute humbucker and the LPJ but now ive seem some Les Paul Studios from like 1992 and 1999 for the same price as the LPJ and the 50s tribute humbucker. So to put it into simple terms. What would you buy if you had to choose between these; 1. LPJ 2. LP studio 50 tribute humbucker 3. Les Paul studio from 1992
btoth76
Hello! My first Gibson ever was a '92 LP Studio. Black with gold hardware and ebony fretboard. As it seems now, we won't see that many ebony-boarded Gibsons coming... It sounded great, but it was extremely heavy! I think it's categorically better than the other two. Cheers... Greg Jacob
I would go with the 90's Studio. I'm not a big fan of the finish on the cheap Gibsons.

Bence My '93 Studio is the same gold and ebony. I prefer that over a newer model.
Rabs
I also had a wine red studio from about 92 (my first Gibson). It was basically a standard without binding. Top quality in every way. The only reason I ever sold it was cos my next LP was a 2002 Classic with a slim neck and once I got used to that there was no going back :o)
LHW
I say go for the '50s Tribute. 'Course, I'm somewhat biased in that choice. ;)
NHTom
I am in a similar situation and have been considering the LPJ, a couple of the tributes, and going for a used studio............. I have looked at and played several as I want to find "the one" that I like the most. I have decided to go the used LP Studio route. From what I've seen some really nice ones can be found with a bit of searching in the $800-$1100 range with a case. I almost pulled the trigger on the LPJ, but at $699 plus a couple hundred for a case (it comes with a gig bag, but I want a hard case) it is in the same price range as a good used studio. My other issue with the LPJ was the finish......I'd rather have a used one with gloss than the worn finish. NHTom
moparguy
If Im spending that kind of money, I would buy the new 50s tribute
