SG Special

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased a 2000 SG Special. Can anyone tell me what pickups came standard in it. Thanks.

Soap-bar P-90's traditionally. But, there were some that had Humbuckers, that were called "specials," in about

that time frame. Does it have a "Satin" finish, or Gloss? Dog-eared, soap-bar pickup covers, or the standard

surround, that goes around the dual coil (490T and 490R) Humbuckers?

Photo's would help, IMMENSELY! [tongue][biggrin]

I have decided to leave the Phat Cats in. I've always liked P-90's and now that I've had the chance to sit down and

really play and adjust the tone I'm really happy with the guitar the way it is. I'll try to get some pictures posted

this weekend.

SG Specials DO come with humbuckers - I believe they were 490R in the bridge, and and 498T in the bridge. I had one a few years ago, and LOVED the bridge pickup, even for rhythm. Personally, I despise P-90's - can't stand the way they distort. But many people love 'em.
