Porch pickin'

So amongst many other reasons why I married Mrs EA, one was that her family has a great cottage and garden about half an hour from Prague.

We did a little trip there today to enjoy the Spring sun, and I took the LG-2 with me for some porch pickin'. (which is fast becoming my fave guitar in the stable much to the SJ's annoyance, just luv, luv this little box)

I think this environment is much more suitable for an old Gibson than a city apartment building ..

Here's a couple pics pluckin' away while Mrs EA and the mother in law (very cool lady) kicking back and a quick vid of me having a first, dodgy go at Dylan's Don't Think Twice that I want to learn ..

Little Sunday kickin' back thigie ...

Mark,

You're having the same cases of envy inside your stable that I'm having in mine. My L-OO is getting about 80% of the play time right now, and my J-45 and SJ are sulking big-time.

Tough to beat those Gibson small-bodies for just sitting around, pickin'......

Never mind apartments, I just can't imagine the folks at Gibson contemplating one of their guitars making its way over to Prague.

Looks like a nice place to kick back in for a bit.

I can't deal with apartments and it ain't got nothing to do with guitars. These days I like alot of distance between me and my nearest neighbor. You know you have enough land when you can take a leak in your front yard.

Terrific setting, , , and staff.

As said many times, EA - You are a lucky man.

Wait til you get that Dylan tune up'n'goin' - that'll make the flying complete.

Just wonder if you reach it in time before becoming a doodling dad ;-)

You gonna put a pup in that lg2?

No effin way, that would be rude ..

But, I did hook up my portable Fishman rare earth blend to see how it goes through the amp, and for low volume stuff and anything bluesy it sounds damn good. Maybe when I get a few more wrinkles, a sporting thumb and do some blues gigs in some cofee shops then I would give her a run ..

Thanks for the comments guys, yes, were lucky to have such a great setting so close to home. Really enjoy getting out there and will try to do as much as we can over the next few months ...

And yes Nick, these little Gibson boxes are darn difficult to put down ..

Nice EA! The porch - it's where the best music is played!

- it's where the best friends gather!

- it's where the best of times are had!

- it's where that inspiration for a new song happens!

- it's where we wish we could spend all of our time!

- it's where I wish I was right now with my Gibson!

(feel free to add!!!)

Those small body guitars are dangerous - I try to avoid them.

They represent a certain phase and signalize significant change.

Get one - play it a year or 2 - next thing you know is that you have grown old.

They are indeed Em7, I can imagine moving more and more down that path as I ... mature. Especially if gigging comes to an end. They are just so damn comfy balanced, and that vintage LG tone always puts one heluva grin on my face ..

As a matter of fact I sense almost no age when playing - talkin' focused playing especially with others.

I feel time and weightless, still like walking a long timepath, heavy as a dinosaur.

I'm free - like some vintage version of my young self.

I sing a song learned 35 years ago - another learned yesterday.

I hate to tell you, dude, but you're gonna get old in a few years no matter what guitar you play.

At the same time, I'm still playing songs I played 40 or more years ago, and they help keep me young.

Why do you think the Stones are still doing Jumpin' Jack Flash?

It's just part of the deal we all made at the crossroads....
