Californiaman
I don't know if you caught this tonight, but I did. It was cool. Sure, the band has been through many lineups, but sonically speaking, they sounded great. It was interesting to hear Corgan and his take on fame, the music industry (machine), and what the pumpkins were trying to accomplish as they rocketted to stardom and acclaim. He spoke of the toll it took on everyone. The grind. The lack of sleep. The constant touring and of course it's effect on his bandmates. I really enjoyed it. I know the Audience Network on Direc TV will play it again soon. Check it out if you get a chance. They started the performance off with Space Oddity by Bowie and I recognized early on. My kids were impressed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2xI4-9yAFw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaqyeZPcbXE
CindyC
Thanks, I missed that and would love to see it. I've been a SP fan for a while and saw them at Revolution in Ft. Lauderdale a few years ago. Billy opened by saying he was surprised so many people had come to hear him play! He played like he never wanted to leave the stage. Early in the concert he brought out his little daughter who was maybe 5-6? and had her sing a song with him. He made it feel like a smaller even more intimate performance than it already was. It was a very memorable concert.
Californiaman
Corgan's passion for playing and performing is primarily the reason why he's still at it. It was interesting to hear him talk about how important passion for performing plays into the creative process. I know that the audience network recycles these shows from time to time. I recorded it, but one of my boys deleted it even after being told not to delete it. I'll deal with him later by blocking his Dr. Who episodes from being recorded. That ought to teach him. Anyway, it was a great interview and performance by the band and I hope you get to see it.
