About bank accounts

Hello,

This month I helped my mom get compensation of her monetary contribution to our Russian bank. It was in the 91-st (the Soviet Union still) when the contributions of all people suddenly devalued, the exact date is known even when it was happened, it was on April 2 (i.e. after the day of Fools). Some died after because of a heart attack or like that. But now banks began to give compensation to those who lost then their money, who are still alive now.

I was delighted in the beginning because my mother lost more 10 000 rubles then. In those days it is about a cost of the 2-roomed apartment in St.-Petersburg that now it is about $ 120 000. But we were fooled again because the compensation received only 47 000 rubles (about $ 1500). I received this money one by proxy since they in bank considered this compensations nearly a month and my mother already left for the Crimea close to the sea. Also, the bank employee told me in confidence that later I can count also on receiving additional money for payment of funeral services when my mother dies. That is, people in bank do not even realize that they say cynicism. Lashurst recently complained on his country [blink] , but, I think, it is unlikely to be in the UK.

Well, the last 2-3 days because of my upset I watched only a film, multiseries,” Arrow”, couldn't come off, at once 23 parts, I was watching until 5 o'clock in the morning every day. The good film, here, in our days a nimble archer successfully fights with bad people in his city, sorry, fellows, I'm still not completely left from the upset, and it is interesting, maybe who knows, when there will be the 24-th part?

Valeriy...

Interesting comments.

I think we are in a time when most of "us" are not happy with our government.

Yes, Russia has more concern because of many changes.

But I think we have something else. For 100 years certain countries were very important in the world. "We" saw our governments grow. We saw our industry grow. We saw transportation grow. We had some wars and our military grew. Our "media" grew from recordings, to radio, to movies, to movies with sound, to television, and now the Internet.

Now, we ask, "Is this what we want?" Is this how we want life?

I do not know about China or India, but I think all of "European," Japan and Korea, are asking. China and India seem to want to be like "us."

I believe this is mostly from growing population. I also believe "government" wants people to like their government.

Government wants "us" to be happy, but it is so big, and our populations are so big.

I believe "we" will see more changes in how our government works. "Politics" will play different sides, but most of "us" will see much change in "social programs."

My personal fear? "We" have problems with people who do not play guitar. They do not want what the rest of us want.

"We" argue our small politics. Then we play guitar or listen to similar music. "They" do not want argument; "They" do not play guitar or listen to similar music.

I wish your family good luck with your country's finance and bank situation. And a good time with "Arrow."

But also, do not believe you are alone. Russia has more obvious money trouble today - but in the long run, it is all of us.

Thanks, Milod.

I just have a feeling as if I was robbed, this was to be my legacy yet. Herewith, I had to learn about another bank account of my mother's sister (they are now together there in the Crimea) and approximately the same amount of money, the two sisters, they all had about the same. But after the collapse of the USSR mother's sister became Ukrainian citizen, and her bank deposit remained in Russia. As a result, mother’s sister became a foreigner to the bank where her money was in '91 and because of that, since now she is a citizen of other country, she does not even have the right to such compensation as my mother, i.e., in fact, nothing will be on her account, does not even make sense to do a power of attorney.

Of course a lot of people were robbed in 91-st and that is why people followed Yeltsin (against communists) in that year and the Soviet Union is gone. But Russia is a rich country and there was not a war in those years and now, and the number of remained people with those bank deposits became much less now. I.e. the compensation could be more worthy now, I think, this is again a super- greed of our government, as in 91, government’s stupidity is repeated again.

Okey, history will judge.

I do understand... and hope you do not hurt too long.

My mother's family had a very rich farm "taken" by the government in WWII.

When they died, two of the family still had hate of almost everyone, and almost no happiness in their hearts.

That is what I fear, not "politics" or even politics by people I do not agree with.

But governments must also be very careful. When enough people believe they are cheated - no matter what kind of government - the people will make change.

I find the history of Plato's own life very interesting, by the way. He learned good lessons in Syracuse about politics. But they also were hard lessons.

Valeriy -

I wondered what ever happened in Russia with people's bank deposits after '91. Now I realize that the currency was devalued and that's what the big problem was. And now people can't get their money because of the political changes. That's horrible.

Milod,

of course, I will not hurt too long. Although my mother’ sister, my aunt, as I said, she lost all her savings. I was a schoolboy living with her in Ukraine, she does not have children of her own, and as regards hausing she was richer than my mother. But her savings, the aunt kept in Russia in the same city where my mother lived (then it was the common Soviet Union). I.e. it was also my second legacy, at those prices it was as another 2-roomed apartment , or as now in sum with my first legacy it is already $ 240 000. I'm a little sorry for this lost  . And the aunt really became very evil and, it seems, her head has become not quite healthy now, my mother cares for her now.

Well…, okey

Hello Badbluesplayer,

It is strange, but the devaluation (depreciation) of the Russian currency (tenfold) happened before the collapse of the USSR, it was a stupid experiment of our communists who killed the economy but hushing up about it. Half a year later there was a coup and the Soviet Union disappeared, soviet money disappeared too and monetary losses of people became even more. But with Yeltsin in the '90s there was the inspiration thanks to that got rid of communists. But Putin has killed this inspiration.
