Jalex
Was prowling eBay and came across this listing for a J-35. Seems like the new J-35 reissue except it has the reverse belly bridge. However on the 9th picture it shows the J-35 with the rectangle bridge. Not sure if this is a prototype or custom shop model. http://www.ebay.com/itm/USED-GIBSON-J-35-J35-J-35-DREADNOUGHT-ACOUSTIC-GUITAR-/360652515254?pt=Guitar&hash=item53f890a7b6
BigKahune
. Looks like a belly bridge in the 9th pic to me.
duluthdan
This response from Gibson to an earlier inquiry of the same thing: "Some of the 35's you are seeing may have been custom builds. The new J-35 has a drop in saddle with the Baggs Element, the others if they have open slots will not have a pickup in them. They are different models." Although someone did point out that the Specs page on the Gibson website notes the Bridge as "Traditional Rectangle" Here's the pic. We'll never figure it out. BigKahune
. Hmmm . . . The fleaBay description says this belly bridge specimen has a Baggs Element. .
Jalex
. Looks like a belly bridge in the 9th pic to me. Maybe it's just the angle of the pic then.
duluthdan
My bad - the earlier inquiry was thru-saddle vs drop-in. Either of which can exist very nicely on a rectangle bridge.
Yorick
Well, it is a belly bridge; that's for sure. And it has a banner, so it's from the recent run of 35s. I love Gibson guitars. Like many things l love, they ain't predictable.
JAddison
Luthiers choice model?
Lars68
I am pretty sure that is a straight bridge in the picture above. I think the close-up picture causes wrong proportions. For example, look how the edge closest to the sound hole by the high e-string appear to be taller than by the low E. In real life it is the opposite, the bridge is taller on the base side. j45nick
I doubt that is a reverse belly bridge in the picture above. I think the close up picture causes wrong proportions. Lars I agree.
BigKahune
. Kind of odd - for just the belly bridge pics, but also slipping one pic in of a possibly different bridge/guitar in that whole group. Puzzler. .
